A key individual on the Treemont Health Care Center Team is the Dietary Manager and Medical Records Clerk Helen Tillery. Treemont is fortunate to have long-term, caring employee Helen Tillery manage these dual roles for 8 years. A key aspect of providing quality care for nursing and assisted living residents is an understanding of the dietary requirements of each resident. As Dietary Manager, it is Helen
Tillery’s responsibility is to do assessments of each resident, to make sure they receive the proper diet and correct liquid as some of the residents require thickened liquids due to swallowing difficulties. Helen also oversees all resident dietary concerns and inspects the kitchen to make sure state requirements are being met. She is also the backup to the MDS (Minimum Data Set) Nurse who conducts federally mandated assessments of patients at a long-term health care facility.
In Helen’s Medical Records Clerk role, she makes sure telephone orders are signed and put on the medical charts and that physician orders are signed and put on charts. Helen’s job includes maintaining patient charts. For the discharge charts, she requests discharge summaries from the hospital and any other information needed. As a State of Texas regulated nursing facility, there are many key requirements need that Helen must maintain to maintain our certification.
Helen received her Dietary Managers certificate from the University of North Dakota. She is also certified as Certified Dietary Manager and Certified Food Protection Professional. Before Helen began work in Long Term Care, she was Dietary manager for Victoria Independent School District (ISD) for 10 years. Helen then attended Victoria College for 2 years to be certified for school food service. She has a combined 34 years in the dietary field.
Helen has worked for almost 8 years at Treemont Health Care Center. “I love working here with the seniors because they need someone to love and take care of them. Some do not have any family and we are all they have. I love working with my fellow co-workers. We are like one big family,” says Helen.
Born in Victoria, TX, Helen moved to Katy, TX to be near her grand children. She has been married for 46 years and has 2 boys and 2 girls. Helen has one sister, one brother, 12 grand children, one dog and one cat. Helen loves being with her family as they are the most important things to her.
